雨季始めの5月にふらりと行ってきたプーケット1泊2日。
今回は「雨季、おひとりさま、たった1泊」ということで、ビーチエリアではなくプーケット県庁所在地のプーケットタウン/Phuket Townに滞在してみました。

かつて錫の産出と貿易で栄えたプーケットには、周辺地域から影響を受けた古いコロニアル建築(この表現が適切かどうかはさておき)が多く残っているということで、これはもうお散歩するしかないでしょ！
↑到着初日はあいにくの雨模様…。写真左の建物は、1914年に建てられた「プロムテープ時計塔」。数年前にキレイに塗り直されてテーマパークっぽくなりましたがw 右の古い建物は現在プラナカン博物館として利用されています。
↑プーケットタウンのホンダショップの建物もかなり古いなあ。Google翻訳使ってショップの人に尋ねたらめちゃくちゃ古いらしいけど、もしかして昔は2階部分もあったんじゃね？と思わせるどっしりとした造り。柱がとてもステキだよ。
↑「プーケット郵便切手博物館」は1932年に建てられたプーケット初の郵便局の建物を利用したもの。ザンザン振りの雨で訪問が遅い時間になってしまったため残念ながらすでに本日の営業終了…。
↑ちょっとした路地の奥にも洋館がひっそり建っていたりプーケットタウンすげえ！
↑2日目は朝からお天気なのでモリモリお散歩！オールドタウンエリアはすべて徒歩で観光できるのがうれしいよ。
↑古いショップハウスもキレイに塗り直されて、絶好の写真スポットとして各国からの旅行者に大人気。
↑交差点の角にある古い建物…この角の丸いところに住んでみたいと思った人はトモ先生だけではないはずw
↑これは「Thai Hua Museum」という博物館。1911年に建てられた中国語学校の校舎を利用しています。館内も欧中折衷コロニアルみたいでなかなか雰囲気良し。
まだまだたくさんのコロニアルがあったのですが、数が多すぎてここには載せきれないやw
別にプーケットタウンに泊まらなくてもプーケットの各ビーチから半日日帰りでサクッと行けますが、古い建物を利用したステキプチホテルも何軒かあるので1泊してみても楽しいと思うよ！

Sino-Portuguese buildings in Phuket. This recently renovated building
was at one stage a Chinese-language school. These days it is used as a
museum, exhibition space and an occasional function hall.
In 2008, the Thai Hua Museum was given an award in the category of
constitutional and public buildings by the Siam Architect Association
under the King’s patronage for its outstanding role in conserving
architectural arts.
